The administrative side of things went smoothly from start to finish: the booking, collection, the helpful introductory video on the website and, finally, the return were all straightforward and very well organised.
But of course, what’s even more important is the driving experience – and that was brilliant. Without any of the electronic aids we now take for granted, you get to experience driving once again in its original, unmediated form. Steering, using the clutch, changing gear and braking all require attention and a feel for the car – especially when braking, you realise just how much modern vehicles have changed.
It is precisely this direct and unadulterated driving experience that gives the MG B GT its special appeal. It was great fun and it certainly won’t be the last time.
